Para athletics: de Rozario in action in women’s T54 5,000m final
There was a crash when the race started initially, but officials decided to re-start the race, which they can use their discretion to do.

Para athletics: Clifford disqualified
It seems Jaryd Clifford has been disqualified from the men’s T13 5,000m final.
The official results now show Anton Kuliatin as the bronze medallist, and Clifford has a DQ next to his name.

Para athletics: Clifford wins bronze on the track!
Australia’s Jaryd Clifford has won a bronze medal in the men’s T13 5,000m.
Clifford and his guide Matt Clarkean Olympic steeplechaser, made a bold move with a three laps left to breakaway from the pack.
Spain’s defending champion Yassine El Ataby Ouhdadi stuck with Clifford, and on the final lap he turned on the afterburners to break free from Clifford and claim an emphatic victory.
Aleksandr Kostin had a strong finish to take silver, and Clifford hung on for the bronze.

Jaryd Clifford has made his move with two laps to go in the men’s 5,000m T13, he’s gone to the front of the pack, and will need to keep this form up to hold off the chasers.

Para swimming: Jones misses out on final
Ella Jonesthe sole Australian representative in the women’s 100m backstroke S8, has failed to qualify for the event’s final.
She finished seventh in heat two with a time of 1:24:48.

Para athletics: Men’s 5,000m T13 final underway featuring Clifford
Jaryd Clifford and his guide are off and racing in the 5,000m T13 final.
This event is for athletes with a vision impairment, and Clifford is the only competitor running with a guide.
Guides can talk to the athlete during a race, and they are tethered together, importantly the athlete, not the guide, must cross the finish line first.

Para cycling track: Reid tops qualifying in time trial
Australia’s defending champion Amanda Reid will eye off another gold after qualifying fastest for the women’s C1-3 500m time trial final.
Reid, a C2 athlete, finished with a factored time of 36.537, meaning she will be the final rider of six in the gold medal decider.
Earlier in the qualifying round, China’s Qian Wangwei set a C1 world record with a finish time of 40.883.
Canada’s Mel Pemble also broke a world record, claiming the C3 mark via a finish time of 38.512.
The final will take place at at 9:35pm (AEST).
Meanwhile, Australia’s Gordon Allan is about to compete in the qualifying stage of the men’s C1-3 1,000m time trial.
Allan is the penultimate heat and we’ll let you know how he fares.

Para-swimming: Aungles ties to qualify for final
Australia’s Jesse Aungles has advanced to the final of the men’s 100m backstroke S8 with a time of 1:08:87.
Swimming in the second heat, he finished the race with exactly the same time as Tunisia’s Turgut Aslan Yaraman.
The pair progress to the final as the equal-seventh fastest qualifiers.

Para swimming: Mcternan, Storm through to final
Australian’s Madeliene McTernan and Ruby Storm are both through to the final of the women’s 200m freestyle S14.
A strong final 50m from McTernan secured her a time of 2:12:71 and fifth fastest qualifier, while Storm’s 2:15:21 was good enough for eighth.
The three fastest qualifiers were all from Great Britain.

Para-swimming: Jack Ireland through to final
Australia’s Jack Ireland has qualified as the third fastest swimmer for the final of the men’s 200m freestyle S14.
He was less than a second off the fastest qualifier, Canada’s Nicholas Bennett.
Fellow Australian Ricky Betar didn’t quite make the cut, swimming a time of 2:04:01.

Para cycling track: Aussie Reid looking to defend time trial crown
Reigning Paralympic champion Amanda Reid will soon hit the track at the velodrome for the qualifying round of the women’s C1-3 500m time trial.
Reid won gold in the event in Tokyo and collected silver at the 2016 Rio Games.
In the time trial, she has won six world championships in the C2 classification.
Reid also holds the C2 world and Paralympic records for the 500m time trial.
The qualifying round begins at 6pm (AEST), but we won’t see Reid ride for a little while as she is contesting the sixth and final heat.
The riders with the six fastest factored times will advance to the final, which will be held at 9:35pm (AEST).

Para swimming: Jones qualifies for 100m backstroke S12 final
Australia’s Jenna Jones has gone through to the final of the women’s 100m backstroke S12 as the fifth fastest qualifier.
She finished third in the second heat with a time of 1:13:96, 14 seconds off the fastest qualifier, Brazil’s Maria Carolina Gomes Santiago.

Para athletics: de Rozario leads Australian medal charge tonight
It’s a big night (or day in Paris) for Australia’s Para athletics team at the Stade de France, with five Aussies contesting finals – and most are at very friendly times for those of us following on from home.

Jaryd Clifford will be first up at 6:14pm AEST in the men’s 5,000m T13 final. He won three silver medals in Tokyo – including in this event.
Defending wheelchair marathon champion Madison of Rosary will be in the women’s 5,000m T54 final at 6:40pm.
She was fifth in this event in Tokyo, but she’s dropped the 800m from her program, to focus on the longer races.
Rio 2016 bronze medallist Michael Roeger takes on the men’s T46 1,500m final at 7:11pm.
Sarah Walsh just finished outside the medals in the women’s T64 long jump at this year’s World Championships, so she’ll be hoping for a podium finish.
And Ella Hose contests the women’s shot put F37 final at 3:08am.

Jamieson Leeson back for key boccia matchup
Royalty bowl Jamieson Leeson returns to the court for her third game tonight at 10pm AEST.
She went down 6-1 to the Korea Republic’s Kang Sunhee in her first outing but produced a dominant display to defeat Great Britain’s Sally Kidson by the same scoreline in her second.

Para badminton: Celine Vinot loses to Mandeep Kaur
Australia’s Celine Vinot has been defeated by India’s Mandeep Kaur 2 games to 1, after going down 21-17 in the third game.
The defeat means the Australian won’t reach the competition’s knockout stages, while the 5th ranked Kaur marches on.

Question — Do pilots get awarded medals in para cycling?

Following the women’s B 1,000m time trial final on day two, we had an audience question about whether the pilots in the event are awarded medals alongside the para cyclists.
Visually impaired cyclists compete on a tandem bike with their pilot.
The answer to the question is yes, they are awarded medals.
Australia’s Jess Gallagher and her pilot Caitlin Ward both received silver medals following their outstanding performance in the final.

Petricola pride after defending her crown
And Emily Petricola also spoke to David Mark after defending her gold medal in the women’s C4 3,000m individual pursuit.
She’s had to deal with a flare-up of her multiple sclerosis in the lead up to Paris, and was bursting with pride following her efforts.

‘Borderline bogan’ celebrates gold
Anyone else still buzzing after the double Aussie gold in the velodrome last night?
Korey Boddington spoke to ABC Sport’s David Mark after his win and said “I’m such a proud Aussie, I’m probably borderline bogan though.” 😂
Nothing wrong with that Korey, we love it!
