Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) has become well-known for her alcohol-fuelled outbursts and “devastating behaviour”.

However, despite doing a “good job” of portraying an alcoholic, many viewers have found her presence hard to watch.

EastEnders fans say character is ‘just annoying now’ and call for her to go

EastEnders viewers discussed the “annoying” character on a Reddit thread with many remaining hopeful of clear-out of Albert Square residents this Christmas.

Kicking the discussion off, one fan of the BBC show said: “Linda is just annoying now,” adding: “When she was drunk on screen the first 200 times it was ok, but now she’s just drunk 24/7, to the point where everyone just puts up with it now.”

Another person said: “Honestly Linda is their latest lightning pole character and I’m sick of all the eternal misery that surrounds her.

“I love her as an actor and character but i’m sick of what the writers are doing to her.”

A third user wrote: “I’ve completely lost interest in the character after this year. I don’t think the Six storyline is wrapping up until Linda’s outcome airs. I hope it’s sooner rather than later.”

A fourth added: “Linda is the new Ronnie. Character has been ruined by utter misery. Ready for the character to be killed off now.”

However, others were quick to defend her portrayal in the show with one person writing: “To be honest, as someone that has been around alcoholics A LOT, she is doing a good job at portraying one.

“That, which you find annoying, is the devastating behaviour that family members have to put up with daily when someone in the household has an alcohol problem. And it is incredibly difficult to deal with.”
