A garden party, beer and bingo and caviar chicken nuggets – San Diego Union-Tribune


Here is some of the latest in menu news from across San Diego County, as well as some upcoming events for foodies.

Garden Party: Spring is in the air and so are colorful cocktails at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa’s second annual Garden Party. Attendees will receive unlimited food tastings, a welcome drink and two complimentary cocktails. The space will be decorated with colorful flowers, trees and local vendors. Beer and bingo: Temaki Bar: Handroll, Sushi, Sake is commemorating National Beer Day with a drink special and bingo. For $25, patrons can get bottomless draft beers from Harland Brewing’s Japanese lager and Sapporo’s pale ale. Plus, guests can play bingo for a chance to win prizes. New menu: The speakeasy bar Youngblood is launching a new menu, featuring a three-course structure. The Dealer’s Choice titled menu includes cocktails on three rounds. For the first course, guests can choose from six cocktails such as the Caribbean + Bitter + Spice, which mixes agave, smoked pineapple, scotch bonnet and brûléed bananas. For the second course, customers give the server feedback based on their first drink to create a custom cocktail. The final round is a dessert-inspired cocktail from one of four options, such as the Butterscotch Bundino that blends Biscoff cookies, scotch, vanilla, sea salt and cinnamon mascarpone. Breakfast bowls: Snooze A.M. Eatery is releasing three new breakfast bowls to its menu. The keto breakfast bowl contains chicken sausage patty, hard-boiled eggs, baby spinach, avocado, shredded carrots and a dijon vinaigrette. The protein bowl mixes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage,  tomatoes, avocado and red onions. The farmer’s market veggie Bowl blends sweet potatoes, a seared tomato, avocado, hard-boiled eggs, baby spinach, carrots and a dijon vinaigrette. Snooze A.M. Caviar chicken nuggets: Stake Chophouse & Bar is introducing caviar chicken nuggets on Sundays. The unique snack features organic chicken nuggets with a French cream and is topped with a pickle and a crown of caviar. The chicken caviar nuggets are $35 with nine grams of caviar and $60 with 18 grams of caviar. Ice cream: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is unveiling three new flavors for spring. The Citrus Glazed Pound Cake features yuzu ice cream with vanilla pound cake and a lemon icing glaze. The Raspberry Rhubarb Delight contains a sweet-tart raspberry-rhubarb jam mixed with coriander sweet cream. The Tropical Bloom blends a citrusy mandarin, kiwi and a passion fruit.
