A sneak peek at the new foods coming to Petco Park this Padres season – San Diego Union-Tribune


For many fans visiting Petco Park this season, choosing what to eat and drink is almost as fun as watching the San Diego Padres play. Each year, new vendors come and go to the concession booths at the park, so here’s the updated guide for where to find your favorite food and drinks from past years and what’s new this year. The Padres season kicks off on Thursday.

What’s new this year

Deckman’s at The Draft: In partnership with Michelin starred-chef Drew Deckman of 31THIRTYONE by Deckman’s in North Park, Draft by Ballast Point will offer an elevated menu of fresh seafood dishes including fish tacos, fresh ceviche, Baja fries, carnitas wings, and fresh oysters. Draft by Ballast Point, above Seaside Market on the Garden Level, Section 107.

Mostra Coffee: San Diego-born Mostra Coffee, which in 2020 was named the Micro-Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine, will be serving for the first time at Petco Park a full line of espresso drink, coffee blends, cold brew, espresso, and other specialty drinks in a newly created location in the Mercado. Their coffee will also be available in select concession stands and premium areas throughout the ballpark. Mercado, Section 104, and other locations.

The Mini Donut Company: This 6-year-old, San Diego-born dessert company bakes bite-size doughnuts in a variety of flavors, including glazed, cinnamon sugar and frosted with sprinkles. Section 109 and Petco Park suites.

Teaspoon: Founded by Amy Lai, Teaspoon has three North County locations in Carlsbad, Escondido and 4S Ranch. The shop will serve three different flavors of tea and boba a rotating basis including Thai Tea, House Milk Tea, Silky Mango, Mango on Fire, Guava Sunset, and Caramel Cream. Gallagher Square.

Petco Park Exclusives: Delaware North, the main food service provider for Petco Park is introducing several new food items this season at various locations at the ballpark. New offerings include a Baja Lobster Roll cooked on a Santa Maria Grill at Pacifico in Power Alley; a Classic Tijuana-Style Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog available at the Elote/Michelada cart in Section 100, and three different sliders including the SoCal, the Bacon Blue, and the Pretzel Beer Cheese, all of which can be found at the Kona Big Wave Patio on the Terrace Level.

Returning food vendors 

An’s Athletic Field Services: This spinoff of An’s Dry Cleaning, named America’s No. 1 ice cream by USA Today, returns for its second season with baseball-themed gelato flavors including Chalk, Clay and Sand. Section 104 in the Mercado area of the Main Concourse on Field Level. adcgelato.com

Ballpark Eats: Delaware North serves ballpark staples, including hot dogs, pretzels and nachos. Multiple locations.

Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill: This San Diego restaurant serves grilled fish tacos on corn tortillas and sandwiches. Inside .394 restaurant on the Terrace Level.

Board & Brew: This San Diego sandwich chain is known for its Turkado (turkey avocado), Tub o Tuna, sub and beef sandwiches. Section 205.

Carnitas Snack Shack: This North Park-born chain is known for its pork-centric approach to sandwiches, burgers, tacos and burritos. Sections 128.

Elote Mexican Street Corn: Petco Park’s main concessionaire, Delaware North, opened this Mexican street food cart last year and its delicious elote corn with pop rocks was a smash. Section 100.

Gaglione Brothers: This San Diego-born, family-owned sandwich shop specializes in cheesesteaks and hoagies, as well as garlic fries. Sections 124 and 319.

Gelati & Peccati: South Park’s beloved Buona Forchetta is serving its traditional Margherita, meat lovers and vegetarian pizzas in Roman-style square slices, as well as Italian-style gelato. Behind home plate in the Mercado area of the Main Concourse on Field Level. gelatiandpeccati.com

Grand Ole BBQ: Grand Ole took over the former Phil’s BBQ location behind First Base last season. It’s serving Texas-style barbecue specialties and margaritas. Section 113.

Hodad’s: Famous for its burgers since 1973, this Ocean Beach-born restaurant is famous for its piled-high burgers and onion rings, both of which are served at its Petco Park locations, as well as chicken strips, fries and veggie burgers. Sections 104, 131, 230, 300.

Jack in the Box: The San Diego-born fast-food chain serves tiny tacos, chicken strips, curly fries and mini churros along with a signature Purple Haze cocktail. Section 323.

Kona Big Wave Patio: Home of Kona Brewing and the famous short rib bowl. Section 227.

Mister Softee: Soft-serve ice cream served in mini plastic baseball helmets and in floats. Available in multiple locations.

Negihama Sushi: Sister restaurant to Unisushi, also at Petco Park, Negihama serves fresh-made grab-and-go sushi items. Sections 104, 211.

Pizza Port: Pizzas by the slice and award-winning house-brewed craft beer and appetizers. Sections 123, 213, 311, 320.

Puesto: La Jolla-born Puesto’s outlets serve quesabirria and chicken al pastor tacos, birria nachos, chicken al pastor burrito and more. The outlets also serve margaritas, piña coladas and Puesto’s own Mexican-style light lager beers. Terrace Level, Section 104.

Randy Jones Grill: The former Padres pitcher-turned-restaurateur is famed for his slow-cooked beef brisket. He also serves oversize hot dogs and other barbecue items. Multiple locations.

Sambazon: This San Clemente superfood chain serves açaí bowls and açaí margaritas at its Petco Park location. Near Section 109.

San Diego’s Finest Hot Chicken: Petco Park’s main concessionaire, Delaware North, serves spicy and hot fried chicken sandwiches, including the Hot Hen, topped with Fresno chile slaw, pickles and “fuego sauce” on a brioche bun. Section 104 and 316, and available in The Draft by Ballast Point in Section 105.

Seaside Market: Home of the famed “Cardiff Crack”, a Burgundy-pepper barbecued tri-tip steak, Seaside sells Crack sandwiches and nachos, among other items. Multiple locations.

Spiro’s Mediterranean Cuisine: Spiro and Nancy Chaconas have been serving gyros, kabobs, Greek salads and other taverna food since 1998 in Coronado and La Jolla. Their 1-year-old Petco Park booth sells a traditional Greek gyro sandwich on pita bread and the Horiatiki Gyro Bowl, made with lamb/beef gyro meat, cucumber, pepperoncini, tomatoes, red onion mixed greens, feta cheese, tzatziki and Spiro’s hot sauces and sliced pita. Stone Brewing: This San Diego-born pioneer in craft brewing and leader in the India pale ale beer industry will be serving some of its favorites and specialty brews on tap. Craft Row on the main concourse behind home plate on Field Level.
