Paula Vennells, the former Post Office boss, has said that she has “no desire to point the finger at others” over the Horizon IT scandal as victims insisted that their mistreatment “came from the top”.
On the penultimate day of the public inquiry into one of Britain’s worst miscarriages of justice, Vennells insisted that she “simply did not get the information” in order to “uncover the truth”.
Lawyers for the hundreds of sub-postmasters who were wrongly prosecuted and bankrupted over alleged shortfalls in their branch accounts said they were the victims of “corporate psychopathy”.
